Getting ready to go to Herning

We have managed to fix the intercooler in Ice Bear and both tractors are now ready for the trip to Herning in Denmark for the next round of the Eurocup.  The sun finally came out and we were able to get the tractors cleaned and loaded last night. The lorry is also getting a quick service ready for the long journey across Europe.

Look forward to seeing everyone in Herning and for a good weekend's pulling.

Blown Intercooler!

Back in the workshop after Great Eccelston Show and the problem with Ice Bear has been found...

A blown intercooler!

Great Eccelston Show 2012

Team Pit Area

After a little more time in the workshop following Made, we were looking forward to the second round of the British Championships at the Great Eccelston Show.

Once again the weather was very kind, and tractor pulling took place on both Saturday and Sunday with very big crowds happy to be out in the sun for a change.

Ice Bear and Baby Bear

Both tractors made really strong full pulls after a slight panic in the pits with Ice Bear due to a broken steering system resulting in Mike having to be lifted to the start line. Many thanks to Derek Leece for his welding!

Rough Justice made a storming run in the pull off to 102 metres and set the target for the rest of us to catch. Gareth got dragged slightly to the right and came up short at just over 90 metres, securing a 2nd place!

Ice Bear was unable to boost from the start line in the pull off so had to settle for 4th place on the day.

Tiny Bear

On the Saturday afternoon the garden pullers were in action and Nathan Jones had a strong pull to secure a 3rd place. The only problem was that he managed to break the gearbox so Tiny Bear couldn't compete on the Sunday. Looks like Gareth needs to get his spanners out!

Made 2012

Both tractors were on form in Made with good full pulls in their first runs.

We changed some settings on Baby Bear for the pull off which did not work and we lost a few metres.

Ice Bear had a problem in the pull off, so we will have to work a little harder to put two good runs together and improve our reliability.

We found a cylinder head problem when we returned home.

Thank-you to Schizos for the pictures.

Bears in a cage!

Off to Made

After a crazy week in the workshop, we have both tractors ready for the trip to Holland for the seconds round of the Euro Cup.

Lets hope they run like angry bears once we let them out of the cage!

Shakey Super Pull 2012

A great weekend at the Shakey Super Pull, after 50mm of rain on the Thursday and Friday pulling took place under sunny skies on both Saturday and Sunday.

The championship points class on Saturday saw Baby Bear finishing in 3rd place and Ice Bear in 4th place.

Ice Bear

Mike in full-flow, put a storming run down for a very fast full pull, but unfortunately couldn't return for the pull off due to a problem with the valve in the cylinder head.

Baby Bear

Gareth had two great runs on Baby Bear finishing in 3rd place just behind Simply Red and Rough Justice.

Tiny Bear

The newest member to the team driven by Gareth's son, Nathan Jones had a great weekend with a 2nd and 3rd in the garden class and is now leading the Championship!

A big thank-you to all our sponsors and supporters who helped make this weekend such a success for the Bear Essentials Team and the Midlands Tractor Pullers Club.

We look forward to seeing everybody again next year!

Bernay 2012

Bears on Tour

The Bears went to Bernay, France for the first round of the Euro Cup competition on the Queens Jubilee weekend.
The pit area was decorated by Jane to show our support.

Ice Bear

After the success in Fuchtorf, Germany we were looking forward to a good start to the season in Bernay, and Mike was going really well until unfortunately the main drive pulley came off!

Baby Bear

Not such a good day, clutch problems meant we could not boost off the line. Lets hope better luck next time!

Some work to do before our home pull next week at Stratford for The Shakey Super Pull 2012!
