Bear Essentials Rebuild 2011/2012 Diary

30th November 2011
The chassis on Ice Bear is being rebuilt for next season as we are slightly under the legal length and the old chassis is now looking a little tired.

7th December 2011
New chassis rails arrived today! So we have started to mount them into place and the tractor is also being lifted up to suit the new front wheels and front axle.

22nd January 2012
Gareth and Andrew working very hard over Christmas and New Year. The front axle is now in place and some steering is being sorted. The chassis is cut to length and the mounting of the pumps is starting to be looked at. We also now have a new toy in the workshop!... a plasma cutter!

26th February 2012
We still need to finish the front of the chassis and weight frame, but, all tanks pumps and drives are now mounted!

25th March 2012
Main fabrication is now all finshed! and the chassis has been painted and is back in place. The tractor needs to be rewired, as we had a slight accident in the workshop last week with a little fire which melted quite a lot of the electrical wiring!

9th April 2012
The new chassis is in place! and the little jobs sorted like making the bonnet, panels, guards, steering system and gear linkages fit again after all the changes. The bottom end of the engine is also complete and cyclinder heads are just back from machining. We still have plenty of work to do, and only 3 weeks left until Fuchtorf!!!
